قالب:UK-waterway-routemap

This is a route-map template for a UK waterway.

Note: Per consensus and convention, most route-map templates are used in a single article in order to separate their complex and fragile syntax from normal article wikitext. See these discussions [i],[ii] for more information.

Suitable instructions belong here – please add to {{UK-waterway-routemap}}.

Usage

This template should be added to all Route Diagram Templates of United Kingdom waterways. It adds the following text (without the surrounding box) to an RDT:

It will automatically include the diagram in Category:Waterway routemap templates.

Adding an optional parameter will include the waterway name as a link, for example,

{{UK-waterway-routemap|Fossdyke Navigation}}

will change the first line of the template to:

The optional named parameter |type= will change “a UK waterway” to “a UK alternate text”. For example,

{{UK-waterway-routemap|type=[[Aqueduct (bridge)|aqueduct]]}}

will change the first line of the template to:

The optional named parameter |the=anything will omit the word ‘the’ before the linked page. For example,

{{UK-waterway-routemap|the=x|King's Sedgemoor Drain|type=artificial drainage channel}}

will change the first line of the template to:

The optional named parameter |place= will change “a UK waterway” to “a alternate text waterway”. For example,

{{UK-waterway-routemap|place=[[Staffordshire]]}}

will change the first line of the template to:

and,

{{UK-waterway-routemap|Llangollen Canal|place=Welsh}}

will change the first line of the template to:

Setting the optional named parameter to |cat=no will suppress inclusion in Category:United Kingdom waterway routemap templates, whereas |cat=C or Cornish or Cornwall will change the category to Category:Cornish rivers routemap templates.

Note that this parameter is not case sensitive: i.e. |cat=NO produces the same result as |cat=no.
