- تاوتالوس يستسلم للرومان، بعد وفاة عمه أتالوس الثاني. Ancient tradition portrays him as an isolated loner who tarnished the reputation of the Pergamene monarchy through a series of murders of relatives and friends, whom he blamed for the deaths of his mother and his fiancée, Berenice . Instead of attending to affairs of state, he devoted himself to agriculture, horticulture, and plant breeding, particularly of poisonous plants, and conducted studies on poisons and antidotes, which he allegedly also tested on slaves.

- Grand Empress Dowager Dou, the grandmother of Emperor Wu of Han, purges the high administration of officials to consolidate her power. Among those dismissed are Prime Minister Dou Yong and her own half-brother, the General-in-Chief Tian Fen. Two of the young emperor's closest advisors, Zhao Wan and Wang Zang, are arrested and commit suicide.[1]
- The Chinese traveler Zhang Qian was sent by Emperor Wu as an ambassador to the Yuezhi in Central Asia . He and his escort of about a hundred men were captured by the Xiongnu shortly after their departure, while crossing the Hexi Corridor in Gansu , and remained prisoners for about ten years. He managed to escape, walked to Kashgar and Ferghana , and arrived among the Yuezhi, who had settled in Bactria ( Daxia ). He tried unsuccessfully to persuade them to attack the Xiongnu from the rear (138/126 BC ).
